Newsletter Winter 2012/2013

The legendary winter sport resort of St. Moritz is the only place in the world where thoroughbred horses race one another pulling a skier behind them, where famous people and sports enthusiasts from all over the world throng together on a frozen lake to be thrilled, be on show and drink champagne “Cüpli,” and where people hurtle headfirst on a bobsled down the world’s only remaining natural ice bob run at speeds of up to 130km per hour. Welcome “home”- welcome to St. Moritz!

We look forward to present to you a very exciting events calendar in and around Badrutt’s Palace Hotel which will provide an entertaining winter season and fabulous prospects for 2013.

In an equally unconventional vein, the legendary «King’s Club» kranks up a gear as of 7th December 2012 with its new theme parties reviving the free feelings of the 80s with Fluo, Big in Japan, Disco, Master Blaster and Rock. This series of hot party nights is called “Club Haus 80’s” which was the brain child of seven Milanese creatives and has since blazed a trail with “Fluo Party” and “Disco” through Europe’s capitals in London, Paris and Budapest.

The Grand Hotel is heading for “The Golden Twenties” for the brilliant highlight of the year on 31st December, reminiscent of strings of pearls, feather boas, bobs and stars such as Marlene Dietrich and Josephine Baker. Guests travel back in time to enjoy a four course gala dinner in Badrutt’s Palace Hotel. Alternatively there is a five course in «Chesa Veglia», before «Le Grand Hall» and «King’s Club» become the party strongholds at the stroke of midnight. Even the children can celebrate the New Year with others their age in «Kids’ Club Palazzino» with a fun, child-friendly party and entertaining evening without their parents.

At the start of the year the chefs set off a firework extravaganza of delights at the "St. Moritz Gourmet Festival” which celebrates its 20th year from 28th January to 1st February 2013. In the elegant traditional «Le Restaurant» Badrutt’s Palace Hotel brings heaven on a plate at the Gourmet Dinner with Guest Chef Massimo Bottura. 28 ROOMS SHINE IN A NEW LIGHT

The legendary traditional hotel has invested some 145 million Swiss Francs in the last 10 years. All the rooms on the sixth and eighth floors have now been renovated exclusively by local companies and updated to the latest in technology and lifestyle, at a cost of some seven million Swiss Francs.

The priority in renovating the 28 or so rooms in Badrutt’s Palace Hotel has been maintaining the traditional character and simultaneously using contemporary interior design and the latest technology. High quality materials and classically styled fine textiles guarantee the comfort and luxury synonymous with this prestigious superior five star hotel. Elegant walnut parquet flooring is subtly combined with cleverly inlaid pieces of carpet, giving a fabulous eye- catching visual effect. The colours in the newly appointed rooms run through a palette of green and beige hues, providing a wonderfully calming atmosphere in each room.

If guests on the eighth floor were to wake during the night they would be guided by practical little night lights from their bed to their ultra-modern bathroom. On the top floors the modern Geberit WCs are integrated with shower function and warm air-dryer. Additional highlights in some of the rooms are an inbuilt Ad Notam mirror TV and an innovative bathroom appliance for the hotel industry – a wet room style shower with the glass door flush with the floor, so guests can quite happily splash about like in a standard bath tub.

The newly renovated rooms are also at the forefront in terms of technology. Guests can recharge all their electronic gadgets with ease at the media hub and can even connect from the TV to an iPhone. Films can be easily downloaded from the internet using the free WiFi service and then watched on the LED flat screen. In addition to this, all the newly appointed rooms have a PlayStation 3 to entertain the young guests.
