Events in Sommer 2012

The 19th British Classic Car Meeting St. Moritz is a shining highlight for fans of British classic cars from 13th to 15th July 2012. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Engadin Alps, classic car enthusiasts from all over Europe put their fancy vehicles and sports cars on show with famous makes such as Rolls Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin and Jaguar. Among this year’s 200 registered classic cars are a Bentley 4¼ litre Carlton, and a 1950 Healey Westland, an absolute rarity, which was the fastest sports car model of its time. The schedule of this high-end classic car meeting includes such highlights as spectacular drives, a regularity test (rally) and the Concours d'Elégance, a kind of beauty contest for four-wheeled competitors.

From 24th August to 2nd September 2012 the festival of art and culture, St. Moritz Art Masters, offers for the fifth time an extensive palette of contemporary art - along the “Walk of Art,” and in some other rather unusual venues, which set art and culture in a spectacular dialogue with nature and where each piece can be individually explored, subject to whim. The exhibitions are accompanied by a symposium, various workshops and panel discussions.

“Sailing on top of the world” is the motto of the 10th St. Moritz Match Race. From 28th August to 2nd September 2012 Lake St. Moritz becomes the Mecca for sailors from all over the world. As part of the World Match Racing Tour, the World Championships in this discipline, the regatta this year brings together the world’s best Match Racers at the start, where they sail for points and prizes before an enthralled public. It is a unique regatta spectacle high up in the Engadin mountains.

St. Moritz is again enticing competitors with some thrilling tournaments: St. Moritz Gold Cup Golf Week takes place from 9th to 13th July 2012 for the 42nd time. This classic tournament can either be played in traditional nature of match play gross score or the more comfortable net competition according to Stableford.

Culinary Highlights

The hotel has filled the summer calendar with special epicurean events: 4th July marks the start of the Palace Gourmet Safari, where guests can feast their way throughout the hotel – from a cocktail in «Le Grand Hall», to a delicious risotto in the wine cellar followed by the main course in «Le Restaurant». For dessert it is off to the hotel’s own patisserie kitchen for some sinful sweet creations by Stefan Gerber. Eight days later Mauro Taufer, Executive Chef, invites guests to a very special dinner at the Palace Chef’s Table: the tables are laid in the heart of the main kitchen and guests can watch the chefs hard at work while savouring the delicacies created before their very eyes. Then on 18th July 2012 it is Wine & Dine for an evening of fine summer dining, kicking off with an aperitif in the wine cellar, followed by an exclusive dinner and choice of fine wines in «Le Relais» restaurant.

Just a few days later, the tiny, yet exclusive shopping street in St. Moritz is transformed into a pleasure mile. At the Via Serlas Summerfest on 5th August 2012 Badrutt’s Palace Hotel entertains guests with a variety of buffets and an extensive array of sumptuous surprises in collaboration with the shops and boutiques.

The Palace Chocolate Cult from 10th to 12th August 2012 is sure to lead anyone into sweet temptation. The hotel’s Head Patissier presents chocolate creations of every shape and size in «Le Grand Hall».

And what’s more, the Wellness-Restaurant «La Diala» is serving the finest Sushi & Sashimi every day, which guests can enjoy on its panoramic terrace. Also daily, in «Le Grand Hall» between 2pm and 5pm Traditional High Tea is served, with no less than 38 varieties of teas to choose from. This classic English teatime is elegantly complemented by sweet pastries and delicious sandwiches.

We look forward to welcoming you this summer at Badrutt's Palace Hotel between 22nd June and 10th September 2012.
